I finally read the extremely popular series Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and it was definitely worth it. I read the whole series in a week and it gave me all the feels. I was stressed, I laughed, and I almost cried.
I loved the characters and their relationship with each other. Jacob is not the normal hero as he does not believe that he is peculiar and a hero. Thereby, Jacob deals with family issues and he does not know where he belongs. This makes his character real and relatable. Unfortunately, the other characters were less emotionally developed. Yet, I could not help to fall in love with them.
The series was action-packed, but the first book was a bit slow as it needed time to build and explain the world. The action scenes were intense and had me on the edge of my seat. Also, the story is quite creepy and thus perfect for fall, especially Halloween. It is important to note that it is not a horror story. Rather it is a fantasy with some light-hearted moments as well as surprisingly dark plots.
I would recommend to marathon this series because each individual book on itself is okay, but the series overall are even better. Overall, I will give Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children books 4 out of 5 stars.
